Take a look into our new research paper in spanish “Practical Application of Infrared Thermography in professional football” “Aplicación práctica de la termografía infrarroja en el fútbol profesional“) published by ThermoHuman team in the Spanish Football Fitness Coaches Association journal.

Infrared Thermography is a non-invasive tool that is being used by several teams in professional football. Elite organizations from Spain, United States, Brazil, Mexico, France and Russia are using this technology for injury prevention purposes in a way to optimize the relationship between external load measured via GPS and the thermal responses that are provoked in football players. ThermoHuman team has been working in the divulgation of scientific information in regards to how sport scientists can use thermal cameras to achieve a better understanding of the training load responses within the human body. Our aim is to expand all the knowledge related with the best practices about how to apply correctly the use of infrared thermography in both sports science, medicine and physiotherapy.

Abstract: “Infrared Thermography is a tool that quantifies the infrared radiation emitted by humans and translate it into temperature for each body region. The use of in football has allowed the creation of new research lines that technologically improved the injury prevention and re-adaptation processes as well as the training workload assimilation and initial physical assessment monitoring. It is important to know how Infrared Thermography could help in the decision-making of the technical staff to decrease the number of injuries sustained along the season. The aim of this short review is to show practical examples on the use of this technology in day-to-day professional and semi-professional football settings”.

Europa Thermohuman ThermoHuman has had the support of the Funds of the European Union and the Community of Madrid through the Operational Programme on Youth Employment. Likewise, ThermoHuman within the framework of the Export Initiation Program of ICEX NEXT, had the support of ICEX and the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

CDTI Thermohuman has received funding from the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), in participation with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for the R+D activities involved in creating a new tool, based on thermography, for the prediction and prevention of rheumatoid arthritis.
